My journey with dowsing rods began unexpectedly, like a whisper from the universe.
I was scrolling TikTok one day when I came across a video of someone using dowsing rods. I was instantly absorbed by their intuitive gift and mesmerised by how smoothly the rods responded with yes and no answers. There was something deeply authentic about this connection to the rods - I could feel it in my core. I didn’t know much about them at the time, but I knew there was truth in what I was witnessing. Without hesitation I went on to get myself a pair - it was like I was receiving a message that I needed to do this.
A Sign Before They Arrived

The day before the rods arrived, I was outside weeding my veggie patch. I had just grown my first-ever broccoli - something I was pretty proud of. As I worked, I suddenly heard a strange sound. It was a “kokoko” noise, like someone was trying to get my attention. I looked up and, to my surprise, saw a kookaburra sitting on the fence.
This was unexpected - I’d never seen a Kookaburra in our area before. My heart swelled with love and joy at the sight of him. His presence stirred up a rush of emotions and a deep memory of my grandparents. I stood up, smiled, and greeted him, telling him how beautiful he was. Then, he let out the most thunderous laugh. My daughter’s bedroom window was right across from him, wide open, and his laughter echoed through the house. The teen emerged from her room, looking confused, and asked, "What the hell was that noise?" I couldn’t help but reply, "It’s a fucking kookaburra!!!" After a few moments, he flew away, and I couldn’t help but hope he’d come back.
The Arrival
The very next day, my dowsing rods arrived. I was excited but also a little nervous. I opened the box and gently took them out, just planning to have a look - not expecting anything major to happen.
But something did happen.
As soon as I held the copper rods, I felt a surge of connection. Behind me was a photo of my grandmother. The rods swung around and pointed directly at her picture. I was stunned. I put the rods down and suddenly, the image of the kookaburra came into my mind along with a strong male presence.
I knew what to ask.
I picked up the rods and gently asked: “Was the kookaburra that visited me yesterday my grandfather?” The rods answered: yes!
Tears welled in my eyes. In that moment, I knew I had just experienced something truly spiritual. A confirmation. A connection. Something real.
I gently packed the rods away, but I knew deep in my soul that this was the beginning of something important. I was being called to work with this tool - to explore it more deeply and open myself to the spiritual connections it could help reveal.
